The UVA Wind Ensemble takes the stage with the Deep Run High School Wind Ensemble

The UVA Wind Ensemble, directed by Mr. William Pease, will be performing a concert on Sunday, February 22nd at 3:30pm in Old Cabell Hall. The program will include Ewazen’s “Hymn to the Lost and Fallen,” and “Aerial Fantasy” .

The Wind Ensemble features 45 of the most outstanding brass, woodwind, and percussion players at the University of Virginia.

The Wind Ensemble will be joined on the program by the Deep Run Wind Ensemble, directed by Jaraun Ransome. The Deep Run Wind Ensemble hails from the Richmond area and has produced several members of the Cavalier Marching Band and the UVA Wind Ensemble. Among them are fourth year student Jimmy Royston, one of the drum majors of the Cavalier Marching Band.

Sharing a program with the Deep Run Wind Ensemble represents UVA’s continuing commitment to reaching out to bands throughout Virginia. The UVA Wind Ensemble will also be performing in April at the Hanover All-County Band Festival in northern Virginia. The UVA Bands also sponsors an annual Band Day for marching band students during the fall and a summer camp during July for middle and high school students throughout Virginia.
