U.Va. Wind Ensemble

This event has been canceled.

The University of Virginia Wind Ensemble, directed by William Pease, invites you to join us on February 28, 2010 at 3:30pm for our concert. We will be featuring the Westfield High School Band.

The Westfield High School band, located in Chantilly, is directed by Steve Panoff. They are an award-winning band who have been named a Virginia Honor Band numerous times.

The U.Va. Wind Ensemble will be performing a challenging but highly entertaining program, featuring Leonard Bernstein's "Four Dances from West
Side Story", Mannheim Steamroller's arrangement of "Auld Lang Syne", Harry L. Alford's "Clownette", and J.S. Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor". West Side Story is a popular Broadway musical also made into an award-winning feature film in 1961. The plot is based on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. "Auld Lang Syne" is typically heard during New Year celebrations and is also the familar tune of U.Va.'s "The Good Old Song". Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" is a well-known and exciting piece often used in films, television, and other popular media.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students, and free for U.Va. students who reserve in advance. Tickets can be purchased / reserved at www.artsboxoffice.virginia.edu or call 434.924.3376.
