Featuring Brooklyn Rider in a more traditional concert, the quartet performs Mozart and Bartók
quartets, with relatively dark hues that beautifully give way to a celebratory octet by Mendelssohn. Festival musicians Raphael Bell, Timothy Summers, James Ehnes, and Aki Saulière join Brooklyn Rider for the second half.

Founded in 2000 by Charlottesville natives Raphael Bell (cello) and Timothy Summers (violin and viola), the Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival, September 8-22, 2013, invites world-class, professional musicians who give fresh reads on traditional classical works, as well as contemporary chamber works.
