Choral Showcase
Join the University Singers, UVA Chamber Singers, Virginia Glee Club, and Virginia Women’s Chorus for the traditional Family Weekend Choral Showcase—Friday, October 18th, 8:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall on the Lawn at the University of Virginia.
The concert’s lively and varied program will feature selections from all four ensembles’ 2019 repertoire—including works by Elgar, Ešenvalds, Mendelssohn, and Whitacre, as well as works by Canadian composers Sarah Quartel and Don Macdonald, and popular songs from Cuba, South Africa, and the U.S. The evening will close with a joint performance of selections including the beloved UVA songs, sung by the four combined choruses (nearly 200 voices strong), joined on stage by their alumni.
The University Singers and UVA Chamber Singers are directed by UVA faculty conductor Michael Slon, the Virginia Women’s Chorus is conducted by KaeRenae Mitchell, and the Virginia Glee Club is led by conductor Frank Albinder.
Tickets for the program are available at the UVA Arts Box Office in the Culbreth building, online at artsboxoffice.virginia.edu or by calling (434) 924-3376. Tickets will also be available at the door.
