The UVA University Singers and the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia join to present their annual Family Holiday Concerts as a special virtual program for 2020. Led by faculty conductor Michael Slon, this year’s virtual concert features video and audio footage from past performances, a new virtual choir by the University Singers and videos from Charlottesville Symphony principals, and a 2020 version of the “5 Golden Rings” audience participation, all to lift spirits this season with some holiday cheer. Through the years, these concerts have become an eagerly awaited holiday tradition – so join us for this special release on Wednesday, December 16th at 8pm. The UVA Office of Engagement hosted a special online preview of the program on Friday, December 11 with Michael Slon (UVA Director of Choral Music), Benjamin Rous (Music Director of the Symphony), and Jody Kielbasa (Vice Provost for the Arts.)
The virtual Family Holiday Concert will remain up through the season at the University Singers YouTube channel.
The event is sponsored by the UVA McIntire Dept. of Music, with additional support from the Office of the Provost and Vice Provost for the Arts. Major funding for the Charlottesville Symphony is provided by The Joseph and Robert Cornell Memorial Foundation.
