The Oratorio Society of Virginia will host their annual Together in Song community choral workshop on Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 500 Park St. in Charlottesville. Community singers are invited to register for and participate in the morning workshop where they will join Oratorio Society members in rehearsing several pieces for the 4 p.m. concert, “Music from the Theatre.” The concert will feature works from opera and musical theatre by composers including Verdi, Beethoven, Sondheim, Mozart, Wagner, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Boublil and Schönberg.

The event will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Virginia. For 30 years, their core programs have been engaging young people in activities with adults and peers, building kids’ self-esteem and helping them reach their full potential. With locations in Albemarle, Charlottesville, Madison, and Orange, the Boys and Girls Clubs now serve more than 2,000 kids annually. Workshop and concert guests will have the option to donate directly to the Boys and Girls Clubs on Saturday and a portion of the registration and ticket revenue will be donated to the organization.
