paganoThe UVA McIntire Department of Music invites you to join Brazilian pianist Caio Pagano in An Unforgettable Evening of Beethoven on Friday March 1st at 8pm in Old Cabell Hall. The Washington Post raves “Pagano is such a fine performer that any opportunity to hear him should be seized” and the New York Times extols that his “Beethoven was absolutely first-class, simultaneously idiomatic and original.” An Unforgettable Evening of Beethoven will include the ever-popular Tempest and Waldstein sonatas, along with the late masterpiece Op. 110. The Eleanor Shea Music Trust, Katherine Brooks and the Brooks Fund support this free recital. 

Mr. Pagano will present a free piano master class on Saturday, March 2nd at 1pm in 107 Old Cabell Hall.

We are particularly pleased that we can present his concert to the community free of charge, thanks to the generous support of the Shea and Brooks funds. This is a rare opportunity for Charlottesville audiences".

Caio Pagano is an internationally renowned concert pianist, teacher and scholar. He is a distinguished professor of piano at Arizona State University since 1986 having earned the honor of Regents' Professor of Piano at this institution. He is the recipient of many piano performance awards in Europe and in his native country, Brazil. Pagano has performed throughout four continents in more than 900 public performances as recital soloist, chamber musician and as soloist with orchestras. He has premiered 36 works in concert halls worldwide, 25 of these were works written and dedicated to him by the composers, including several concertos for piano and orchestra. He has also recorded several of these works. Pagano was the first pianist to perform the complete works of Schoenberg in several capitals of the world.
