UVA Choral Showcase 2012

Join the University Singers, UVa Chamber Singers, Virginia Glee Club, and Virginia Women’s Chorus for the traditional Family Weekend Choral Showcase—Saturday September 28th, 7:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall on the famed Lawn at the University of Virginia.

The concert’s lively and varied program will feature selections from all four ensembles’ 2013 repertoire—including Lauridsen’s beautiful “O Magnum Mysterium,” a traditional Zambian folksong “Bonse Aba,” the humorous “Chile con Carne,” and works by American composers Eric Whitacre and Forrest Pierce.

The evening will close with a joint performance of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from Messiah as well as the beloved UVa songs, sung by the combined choruses (more than 180 voices strong), who will be joined on stage by their alumni.

The Virginia Women’s Chorus is conducted by KaeRenae Mitchell, the Virginia Glee Club is led by conductor Frank Albinder, and the University Singers and UVa Chamber Singers are directed by UVa faculty conductor Michael Slon.

Tickets for the program are $10 for the general public and $5 for students.  Tickets are available at the UVa Arts Box Office in the Culbreth building, online at https://artsboxoffice.virginia.edu/ or by calling (434) 924-3376.  Tickets will also be available at the door.
