On Thursday evening, April 23, the UVA Flute Ensemble will present its Spring Concert in Garrett Hall. The concert will be at 8 pm, & admission is free.

The Ensemble is directed by Alan Cox, & its members are Amanda Brody, Jennifer Kellett, Christine Meng, Emily Wetzel, and Suzie Wright.

On this concert, we are delighted to welcome a wonderful guest artist, Christopher Rowland, a master of the native American flute. This will mark his first appearance at UVA.

The program will include pieces by Petrus de Cruce, Boismortier, Kuhlau, Mercadante, Faure, Dubois, Barber, and Rowland. The represented styles range over many centuries, making for a richly varied listening experience.

During 2008 Christopher Rowland completed his album recording of eighteen musical compositions with his co-writer and co-producer George Prudden. As a composer he mixes centuries-old, Northern Cheyenne modal melodies with twentieth-century, neo-classical influences, shaped into new compositions on his album entitled “Dreams May Come.” He performs and records under the pseudonym of Blue Warrior. A full orchestra arrangement is currently in the works for his composition “The Healing”, from this album. You can learn more about him, see more paintings and hear music by Christopher Rowland at www.thrillentertainmentgroup.com.
