Virginia Women’s Chorus: 5th Women Against Violence Benefit Concert
After a long, hard year, the Virginia Women’s Chorus is presenting the 5th annual Women Against Violence (WAV) concert Saturday, April 17. The theme of this year’s benefit concert is “Brand New Day,” taken from one of the musical selections Light of a Clear Blue Morning. The concert is filled with uplifting music to provide inspiration and hope on personal journeys through the current pandemic.
The concert will feature a wide variety of music – Jazz, Pop, Country, Classical, and more – shared by musicians near and far. Some of the finest a cappella groups at UVA and in the community will be participating and a new special guest, the William and Mary Women’s Chorus, will be sharing a classical selection. A special arrangement of How Can I Keep From Singing will include many of the VWC’s alumnae, spanning over 46 years of singers. Other familiar selections include Here Comes the Sun and Stand by Me.
The concert will be premiered on the VWC YouTube channel on Saturday, April 17, at 7pm. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted and given to “The Women’s Initiative” - a local Charlottesville organization dedicated to providing women with effective counseling, social support and education so they can transform life challenges into positive change and growth.
The Chorus is most appreciative of the Parents Fund at UVA for their generous support of this concert.
