William Dickinson - Distinguished Major Conducting Recital
i thank You God: Musical Expressions of the Divine and the Natural
William Dickinson will be presenting a recital featuring orchestral and choral conducting this Spring to fulfill the requirements of the Distinguished Majors Program in Music. A Fourth Year in the College, Dickinson studies Music and Religion, and this recital is entitled 'i Thank You God: Musical Expressions of the Divine and the Natural'. It will explore how composers navigate the curiosities and intersections of spirituality and the Earth, our island home. Dickinson plans to pursue a Master of Divinity degree in Fall 2016, focusing on music as expressed theology. He wishes to explore a combination of ordained ministry, conducting, and academic teaching. Dickinson serves as Concert Manager of the University Singers, a moderator of Sustained Dialogue on Grounds, and a member of Chamber Singers and the Canterbury Fellowship of The Episcopal Church.
This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
