A Night of Percussion with the UVA Percussion Ensemble directed by I-Jen Fang
The UVA Music Department presents A Night of Percussion by the UVA Percussion Ensemble directed by I-Jen Fang on Tuesday, April 17 at 8:00pm in Old Cabell Hall. The percussion ensemble will be joined by special guest Casey Cangelosi. Mr. Cangelosi will be performing two of his own works during the night of percussion. The UVA Percussion Ensemble will perform Occhio II and Theatric #10 by Cangelosi. The Night of Percussion will also feature world premieres written for the UVA pecussion ensemble and other works.
Casey Cangelosi has performed solo recitals in Italy, Germany, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Croatia, Sweden, Taiwan, Portugal, and widely across the U.S. at events including: The Midwest Clinic, several Percussive Arts Society Showcase Concerts, and over 40 universities. Casey is the creator of the @Percussion Podcast, and is the Director of Percussion Studies at James Madison University in Harrisonburg VA.
Student performers include Brandon Burton, Cortney Busick, Cameron Church, Aliyah Cotton, Nathaniel Hara, Daniel Kiracofe, Julianna Lee, Ryan Lerner, Kayla Nguyen, Mark Penetti, Tyler Smith, Crystal Triplett, and Tyler James Walsh.
Tickets are $10/$9 UVA Faculty & Staff/ $5 students/ Free for UVA Students who reserve in advance and those under 18. Tickets can be purchased by calling the UVA Arts Box Office at 434.924.3376 or visiting www.artsboxoffice.virginia.edu, or patrons can purchase tickets at the door.
Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda (map). Parking is available in the Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Road, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.
