The Festival presents its second annual FREE community concert. This 1-hour lunchtime concert is open to the public, and features Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, a beautiful work in its own right and a wonderfully accessible musical introduction for new listeners of all ages. With Ogden Nash’s humorous poem, narrated by Doug Schneider. Open seating, no tickets required.

About the Festival:
Founded in 2000 by Charlottesville natives Raphael Bell (cello) and Timothy Summers (violin and viola), the Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival, September 8-22, 2013, invites world-class, professional musicians who give fresh reads on traditional classical works, as well as contemporary chamber works. The diversity of programming, musicians, and variety of instrumentation sets this Festival apart in Central Virginia, and provides a unique opportunity for chamber music lovers throughout the region.
