"SPICMACAY at UVA invites you to an evening of Hindustani classical music with Pandit Madan Oak on Santoor and Mallar Goswami on Tabla.
A disciple of the legendary Santoor Maestro Padma Vibhushan Pandit. Shivkumar Sharma, Pandit Madan Oak has been studying music for 45 years and has performed across the US, Europe, and India. He is a recipient of the All India Radio Best Instrumentalist Award, the “Kala-Gaurav” honor, and is also the founder of Shatatantri Academy, where he trains the next generation of Indian classical musicians and dancers.
Mallar Goswami is an accomplished tabla artist and dedicated educator from Kolkata, India, with over 20 years of teaching experience. A National Scholar certified by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Delhi, Mallar pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Music from Rabindra Bharati University, further deepening his academic and artistic foundation. Whether on stage or in the classroom, Mallar Goswami embodies the discipline, artistry, and dedication that define a true custodian of India’s rhythmic heritage.
