Experience the bold sounds of today's musical innovators as the University of Virginia Department of Music presents an evening of original works by members of the Composition & Computer Technologies (CCT) program and guest artists on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall.

The concert showcases new music created by composers working at the intersection of acoustic performance, electronic media, and emerging technologies. Reflecting the interdisciplinary spirit of UVA's Composition & Computer Technologies program, the evening will feature original works that explore contemporary musical ideas through a wide range of creative approaches.

The Composition & Computer Technologies program is internationally recognized for its innovative integration of composition, technology, and artistic research. Faculty and students collaborate across disciplines to create music for acoustic instruments, electronics, multimedia performance, sound installations, interactive systems, and other emerging forms of artistic expression. Their work draws upon advances in computer music while remaining deeply rooted in musical creativity and performance.

Supported by facilities including the Virginia Center for Computer Music, the Jefferson Starship Recording Studio, the Music Interactions Lab, and the Wilson Interdisciplinary Maker Space, CCT students and faculty regularly present their work at festivals, conferences, galleries, and concert halls around the world. The program has welcomed internationally renowned composers, performers, technologists, and artists whose collaborations continue to shape its vibrant creative community.

Whether you are an enthusiast of contemporary music or simply curious to experience something new, this concert offers an engaging introduction to the innovative work being created by UVA composers.

Detailed program information will be available closer to the concert date.
