Musicians performingJoin the New Music Ensemble at The Bridge for their fall concert Thursday, November 1 at 8:00pm.

The UVA New Music Ensemble, directed by I-Jen Fang, is a collaborative group of musicians who realize experimental and improvised music. The ensemble works together to arrange, interpret, and frequently compose works for the specific group. Each member brings their own perspective to the ensemble which shapes the ensemble’s sound and approach to composition and performance.

This semester’s concert will feature music by John Cage, Tom Johnson, Pauline Oliveros, Steve Reich and more. The New Music Ensemble will perform graphic scores and text pieces as well as interpret more conventional forms of notation. The result of this array of compositions is a varied and engaging collection of sounds worlds, from noisy and active to calm and meditative.

Current members of the ensemble are Becky Brown, Alexander Christie, Hannah Yee, and Tianyu Zhang.

This concert is free and open to the general public.
