Paul Koonce Colloquium

Join us Friday, November 2 at 3:30pm for Paul Koonce's colloquium in Old Cabell 107.

Paul Koonce studied composition at the University of Illinois, and the University of California, San Diego, where he received a Ph.D. in Composition. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida, having previously taught at Moorhead State University and Princeton.

His music focuses upon issues of representation and perception in electroacoustic sound. As a software developer, he has explored the invention of computer technologies for the manipulation of sound and timbre, developing tools for exploring the parallels between musical and environmental sound phenomena.

Koonce is also a recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim and McKnight Foundations. His music is available on the SEAMUS, Mnemosyne, ICMA, Panorama, Innova, Einstein, Centaur, and Mode records labels.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda (map). Parking is available in the Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Road, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.
