The Early Music Ensemble presents LES NATIONS: NATIONAL MUSICS IN EARLY MODERN EUROPE

The University of Virginia Early Music Ensemble directed by Paul Walker with strings coached by David Sariti presents LES NATIONS: NATIONAL MUSICS IN EARLY MODERN EUROPE. This free concert will take place in Old Cabell Hall at 3:30pm on Sunday April 11th 2010 and will include various national musics from around Europe.

The program includes Renaissance vocal works from Spain and England and Baroque music for strings, woodwinds, and harpsichord from Italy and Germany. Among the composers featured will be Tomás Luis da Victoria, Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Giovanni Gabrieli, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Arcangelo Corelli, and Georg Philipp Telemann. All of the instrumental selections will be played on period instruments.
