Jennifer Ryu
Jennifer Youngjoo Ryu is a computer musician, composer, and sound artist from Seoul, South Korea. Her work explores themes such as experiences of discomfort and miscommunication, the relationship between body and sound, and the technological extension of the senses. Using sound synthesis programs like Max/MSP and SuperCollider, she creates sound from the ground up. Through technology-driven integration with other media, she seeks to offer audiences multi-layered listening experiences. Her current research interests include new interfaces for musical expression, accessible digital musical instruments, and disability studies.
Jennifer holds a bachelor's degree from Seoul National University and a master’s degree in Music Technology from the Korea National University of Arts. Her work has been presented across South Korea, the United States, and Europe, including NIME 2024, ICMC 2024, and SICMF 2022.
