Michael Idzior

Mike Idzior is the University of Virginia Assistant Director of Bands and was the first hire in this role during the program’s early development. Originally from Michigan, he holds degrees from Western Michigan University and the University of North Texas and is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts at UNT.

At UVA, he has helped grow the band from 200 to 320 members, supports student leadership, sponsors Kappa Kappa Psi, and directed the CMB HOOps Band during UVA’s 2019 NCAA basketball championship run.

An accomplished performer and conductor, Mike has appeared with UVA ensembles, the Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra, toured Europe as a soloist, and previously performed and recorded with the UNT Wind Symphony.
