Ragged Mountain Quartet featured in program at the Library of Congress
The Ragged Mountain Quartet (Daniel Sender and Benjamin Rous, violins; Danielle Wiebe Burke, Viola; Clara Lee Rous, cello) were the featured artists in a recent program at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Hosted by the Hungarian American Coalition, in conjunction with the Tulipán Foundation and others, the event was a celebration of America's 250th Anniversary by Americans of Hungarian descent. Prof. Sender was invited to curate the musical portion of the event and the Ragged Mountain Quartet delivered a powerful performance featuring both American and Hungarian composers.
The quartet was praised for embracing the Hungarian folk spirit in their stirring interpretation of Bartók's Quartet No.1 and Dana Wilson's Dudatánc.
The Ragged Mountain Quartet will be launching their upcoming Beethoven Quartet Cycle as part of UVA's Faculty Artist Series on October 29th at 7:30 in Old Cabell Hall. Stay tuned for more information!
