This intermediate-advanced saxophone ensemble is for experienced players with prior chamber or wind ensemble experience. Students will work on blend, tone, phrasing, and style in a chamber setting. They will also take turns leading the ensemble in rehearsal. This is, at its heart, a collaborative course.

Because the saxophone quartet is still a relatively young ensemble type, the group will explore a wide range of repertoire — from string quartet and chorale arrangements to modern adaptations, including the tangos of Astor Piazzolla, as well as the chestnuts within the saxophone quartet repertoire.
