
The Smithsonian Academy Orchestra performs Haydn, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn on period instruments, conducted by Kenneth Slowik.
Established in 2024, the Smithsonian Academy Orchestra brings together top early music specialists to perform classical works on period instruments under the direction of Kenneth Slowik. Hear them perform at University of Virginia's Old Cabell Hall on February 13 at 7:30pm. Admission is free and reservations are not required.
The SAO is a program of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, presented in cooperation with The Smithsonian Associates, and made possible by the generous support of The Honorable John FW Rogers and Goldman Sachs.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA’s historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda (map). Parking is available in the central grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Rd, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner. Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.
