Trumpet Ensemble
The UVA Trumpet Ensemble, directed by Dr. Chenguang “Edmond” Wang, is open to students of all majors and playing backgrounds who are committed to serious ensemble performance and musical growth. Students interested in joining the ensemble must contact Dr. Wang directly and sign up for an audition. Because ensemble space is limited, early communication is strongly encouraged.
The ensemble meets weekly throughout the academic year, and complete dedication to rehearsals and performances is expected from all members. Rehearsals focus on ensemble precision, tone production, musical expression, stylistic understanding, and collaborative performance skills.
A short list of audition requirements and preparation materials will be provided only after students contact Dr. Wang directly. Repertoire and performance opportunities will be selected based on the strengths and goals of the ensemble and may include university concerts, outreach performances, special events, and potential participation in national trumpet ensemble competitions.
