The University of Virginia McIntire Department of Music presents the secend of six concerts in the UVA Chamber Music Series on Monday, November 9th at 8:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall. The UVA Chamber Music Series brings an array of musicians to provide professional performances to the University and the central Virginia community. Directed by Kelly Sulick, the programs offer a wide range of works that are sure to entertain, educate and enthrall.

The second concert of the 2015-2016 UVA Chamber Music Series season will feature oboist Aaron Hill. Mr. Hill earned his Bachelor of Music degree with Highest Honors from the University of Michigan. He earned his Master of Music and Artist Diploma degrees from the Yale School of Music. He received the Thomas Nyfenger Memorial Prize, which is presented to a student who has demonstrated the highest standard of excellence in woodwind playing, while at the Yale School of Music. His oboe teachers include Richard Killmer, Stephen Taylor, Nancy Ambrose King, and David Weiss.

Mr. Hill travels around North America as an active recitalist and masterclass clinician, and has been a featured speaker at the TEDxSkidRow and Tom Tom Founders Festival conferences.

Oboist Aaron Hill presents “Music with Friends: Songs of the 21st Century.” This innovative program highlights compositions written by the performer’s friends over the last fifteen years. Join the conversation as Hill features works by Rich Brunner, Reena Esmail, Alyssa Morris, Jim Territo, and the McIntire Department of Music’s own Judith Shatin. With Pamela Beasley, soprano; Laura Smith, English Horn; and John Mayhood, piano.

The University of Virginia Chamber Music Series is supported by the George F. and Marion E. Jones Endowed Lectureship Fund.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda.  (map) Parking is available in the central grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Rd, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.  Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.
