Wind Ensemble Spring 2025 Concert

The University of Virginia Wind Ensemble’s spring concert is Monday, April 21st at 7:30 PM in the Hunter Smith Band Building. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
The concert features a broad range of works by living composers. Brandon West (guest conductor) opens the concert with Katahj Copley’s AYO, which is followed by Morten Lauridsen’s Contre Qui, Rose, arr. Reynolds, Viet Cuong’s Deciduous, Gala Flagello’s Love and Nature (UVA was a consortium member), Frank Ticheli’s iconic Blue Shades, and closes with Mason Bates’s own arrangement of his funky and electronic Chicago 2012, from his larger work Alternative Energy.
Led by UVA’s Director of Bands, Elliott Tackitt, the 45-member Wind Ensemble features the most outstanding brass, woodwind, and percussion players at the University, and rehearses and performs in the Fall and Spring Semesters. The focus of the UVA Wind Ensemble is for students to explore their artistic potential in a collaborative environment.
