Dan and Shelby Sender
UVA Music faculty Daniel Sender (violin) and Shelby Sender (piano) were recently featured in a live broadcast recording in Budapest, Hungary.  In a rich chamber music program that included Hungarian cellist László Pólus, the performance was recorded in the MTVA Studios and will be distributed by Bartók Radio, the nation’s premiere classical music radio station.  It was the first time the studio recorded a live performance of Pleyel’s Duo in G Major for Violin and Cello that Mr. Pólus and Daniel Sender performed.  Mr. Pólus was recently a Fulbright Scholar and guest professor in the UVA Department of Music for the Fall 2024 semester and made a lasting impact on our music community.

This event was part of an longstanding artistic partnership between UVA and Hungarian institutions.  Founded in 2018, this initiative has resulted in student and faculty exchanges, more than a dozen concerts, masterclasses, and a new study abroad program (UVA Hungary) with a focus on the arts.

This project was generously supported by The Joseph and Robert Cornell Memorial Foundation.
