Jack Siegel
The Department of Music presents Jack Siegel's Distinguished Major Recital on March 29th, 2025 at 8 PM in Old Cabell Hall. Jack's recital program will include solo and ensemble selections from Handel, Wolf, Mozart, Bizet, and more. Jack will be accompanied by Karen Dalton (piano) and joined by a small chorus of music students from across the University.

Jack Siegel is a fourth-year student at UVA with distinguished majors in Music and Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law (PPL). Jack is an avid solo and ensemble singer, has held choral scholar positions at the Church of the Holy Apostles (Memphis, TN) and St. Paul's Memorial Church (Charlottesville, VA), and was the music director of his acapella group, the Academical Village People. Jack's solo performances include appearances with the Charlottesville Symphony ("You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch!"), Westminster Presbyterian Church (Messiah), University Singers (Considering Matthew Shepard), and Savannah Bananas ("The Star Spangled Banner"). In addition, he is the winner of the Charlottesville Symphony's Student Concerto Competition, and performed several arias in their February Masterworks concert.

Outside of his passion for music, Jack is also an aspiring public servant. He most recently interned for U.S. Senator Mark R. Warner, and is the founder of UVA's Civil Discourse Initiative, a Leonard D. Schaeffer Fellow in Government Service, a Karsh Institute Student Dialogue Fellow, and a writer for the Virginia Undergraduate Law Review. He enjoys building communities across lines of difference—a feat that can be accomplished through music or through speech. Upon graduation, Jack intends to work in government service and continue singing.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music. To see all of our Distinguished Major Recitals, please visit https://music.virginia.edu/student-recitals.
