Family Weekend Choral Showcase

Join us for the traditional Family Weekend Choral Showcase, featuring the UVA University Singers, UVA Chamber Singers, Virginia Women’s Chorus and Virginia Glee Club in concert on Saturday October 27th, 2012 at 7:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall. The concert’s lively and varied program will feature selections from all four ensembles’ 2012 repertoire – including Edvard Grieg’s “Brothers, Sing On,” American composer Joan Szymko’s “Nada te Turbe,” a movement from Sergei Rachmaninoff’s beautiful Vespers, and Gershwin’s “Embraceable You.”
The evening will close with a joint performance of Charles Villiers Stanford’s beautiful 6 –part “Beati Quorum Via,” as well as the beloved UVa songs, sung by the choruses – more than 170 voices strong – who will be joined on stage by their alumni.
The Virginia Women’s Chorus is conducted by KaeRenae Mitchell, the Virginia Glee Club is led by conductor Frank Albinder, and the University Singers and UVA Chamber Singers are directed by UVA faculty conductor Michael Slon.
