Youth Orchestras of Central Virginia Spring Concerto Concert

On Sunday, May 11, 2014, The Youth Orchestras of Central Virginia returns to Old Cabell Hall at the University of Virginia for their final concert of the season.

This concert will feature the two winners of the Theron McClure Concerto Competition, Meredith Hooper, cello, performing Fauré’s Élégie and Julia Klein, clarinet, performing von Weber’s Concertino with Dr. Charles West conducting The Youth Symphony. Their repertoire will also include Shostakovich’s Festive Overture and Schumann’s Symphony No 3.

Donald Brubaker will conduct the Rita M. Evans Orchestra delighting you with Rimsky-Korsakov’s Dance of the Tumblers, The Magi of Harry Potter by John Williams, the theme from Downton Abbey and a medley of western favorites with Go West! And our Junior Strings, under the direction of Alicia Tobin will display their talents with Pirates of the Caribbean and pop tune, Call Me Maybe.
