Tina Hashemi

Jazz vocalist Tina Hashemi will be releasing her jazz voice DMP album, virtually, on Saturday, May 1st with her trio of Thomas Kehoe on piano, Ami Falk on acoustic bass, and Peter Wellman on drums. The album will feature an original composition, Blue Champagne, that music graduate student, Rami Stucky, has arranged. Tina has also collaborated with her distinguished major advisor and jazz program director, John D’earth.  She’ll be recording his song, Have You Met Yourself?, and, together, they’ve written a new song, Madison Avenue, with music by Hashemi and lyrics by D’earth.

Tina Hashemi is a fourth year undergraduate student majoring in Music with a Performance Concentration and is a Miller Arts Scholar. Tina has sung in several Jazz Small Groups, the UVA Jazz Ensemble, and co-founded the UVA Jazz Singers. She also performed locally with students that were part of the especially strong cohort of jazz musicians in the department during her time at UVA. She is extremely grateful to have been surrounded by such amazing friends and musicians and is especially grateful to her UVA mentors Stephanie Nakasian, John D'earth, and Rami Stucky, and to vocalist Danielle Wertz.
