Add Content

  • On the navigation bar, go to "Content" > "Add Content" > Choose which content type you would like to add to the site from the menu bar
  • You can also click one of the links to be redirected to the content type you would like to add: Basic page, Blog entry, Homepage Slideshow, News & Announcements, Courses, Events, People, and Publications
  • Fill in the “Title” that will show at the top of the page
  • Fill out the form accordingly
  • Click "Save" at the bottom of the page
  • Pages will be automatically published once you click "Save"
    • If you would like to unpublish content, click "Publishing options," uncheck “Published” and then click the “Save” button to save your changes

Add Images

  • Open the basic page you will upload an image to
  • In the "Body", click on the "Image" in the gadgets menu
  • There are two ways to add an image to the basic page

  • The first method is to enter the URL where the image is located on the Internet
  • If you enter the URL link of the image, click "Ok" and the image will be added to the "Body"

  • The second method is to click "Browse Server" to upload the image from your computer
  • Next, click "Upload" > "Choose File" > Choose the image from your computer > Click "Upload" on the bottom
  • Click "Insert File" to upload the image to your basic page
  • Click "Ok" to insert the image to the "Body" of the basic page
  • Optional: If you would to resize your image, click the "Resize" option in the menu
  • Next, type in your desired width and click on the height so the image will resize proportionally
  • Click "Resize" to create a new image
  • Finally, click "Insert File" to upload the newly resized image
  • Click "Ok" to insert the newly resized image to the "Body" of your basic page

Link Text to a Document in Content

Link Text to an External Website in Content

  • Open the content page that you will link text to an external website
    • For this example, we will be using a basic page
  • In the "Body," highlight text that will link to an external website
  • Click on "Link" in the gadgets menu
  • Enter the URL of the external website
  • Click "Ok"
  • Click "Save" at the bottom of the content type

Link Text to an Internal Website in Content

  • Open the content page that you will link text to an internal website
    • For this example, we will be using a basic page
  • In the "Body," highlight text that will link to an internal website
  • Click on "Link" in the gadgets menu
  • Enter the URL of the internal website
    • Internal websites uses the Protocol <other> and begin with a forward slash (/)
    • Only what you want to link to internally, not the main URL,
      • Example: sociology.com/about (only enter "/about" to the protocol)
  • Click "Ok"
  • Click "Save" at the bottom of the content type

Change Target Window

  • You can change the target window of a "Link" in the "Target" tab
  • If you would like your document to open on the same page, leave the Target as "<not set>"
  • If you would like your document to open on the new tab, click "Target" > choose "New Window (_blank) > Click "Ok"
  • Click "Save" at the bottom of the content type

Edit Blocks

A "Block" is a special block of content on a page that is placed in a specified region. This is most commonly seen on a homepage, or in the sidebar of a basic page.

You can review a list of the editable blocks on your site by going to Content > Blocks.

  • Click to "Edit" the desired block
  • In the "Block Body", edit the information accordingly
  • Click "Save" to save any modifications to the block

Special Functions

How to Add Accordions 

  • Open the content type you would like to add an accordion
  • In the "Body" of the content type, type accordion in brackets where you would like to begin the accordion and then press enter
  • For the header text of the accordion, use "Heading 3" in the format dropdown of the gadgets menu
  • For the body text of the accordion, use "normal" in the format dropdown of the gadgets menu
  • After adding in the desired accordion, add /accordion in brackets to the end of accordion text
  • Click "Save" at the bottom of the content type

How to Turn Links into Buttons

  • Add the link using the link icon as you normally would
  • Before saving, click on the "Advanced" tab
  • Enter the text "orange-button" in the "Stylesheet Classes" field
  • Click OK

 

How to open a new page when clicking a link

  1. Add the link using the link icons you normally would
  2. Click on the "Target" tab
  3. Select "New Window (_blank)"
  4. Click OK
