UVA Chamber Music Series - Peter Spaar Solo Bass Recital

Peter SpaarThe University of Virginia McIntire Department of Music presents the final performance of the UVA Chamber Music Series, on Saturday, April 19th at  8pm in Old Cabell Hall.  The concert will feature Peter Spaar, bass. 

(This concert was originally scheduled for Monday, March 3rd, but was postponed due to the snowstorm. Those patrons who already purchased or reserved tickets for the March 3rd concerts will be able to use those for this concert.)

Pete Spaar has served as principal bass of the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia since 1991. He serves on the music faculty at the University of Virginia where he teaches classical and jazz bass and is the founder and bassist of the Free Bridge Quintet, U.Va.'s jazz quintet-in-residence. He is a former member of the Fort Worth Symphony and is currently a member of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Spaar maintains a very active freelance career as both a jazz and classical bassist. He has extensive freelance experience including performances with Michael Brecker, Dave Liebman, Mose Allison and Emily Remler.

Mr. Spaar holds a Bachelor of Music degree from James Madison University and a Master of Music degree from University of North Texas. His former teachers include Sam Cross, Ed Rainbow, Tom Lederer and Mark Bernat.

Tickets for this concert are $15 general admission, $8 for students, free for UVA students who reserve in advance and for those under 18.  Tickets can be purchased by calling the Arts Box Office at 434.924.3376 or visiting artsboxoffice.virginia.edu

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic Lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda.  Parking is available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage, or in the lots off University Avenue at the University CornerHandicapped parking is available in the C1 parking lot or in designated spaces on McCormick Avenue.
