The Virginia Glee Club 85th Annual Christmas Concert
Ring in the holiday season with the Virginia Glee Club as they present their 85th Annual Christmas Concert at University Baptist Church, Saturday, December 6, at 8 PM. Christmas with the Glee Club incorporates candlelight, comedy, and our favorite holiday classics! Come join in the fun and celebrate the beauty of the holiday season with one of Charlottesville’s oldest and most joyful holiday traditions! Tickets are $20 for general admission and $5 for students.
The Virginia Glee Club is a tenor-bass chorus based at the University of Virginia. It performs both traditional and contemporary vocal works, typically in TTBB arrangements. Founded in 1871, the Glee Club is the University’s oldest musical organization and one of the oldest all-male collegiate vocal ensembles in the United States. It is currently conducted by Frank Albinder. The group is composed of students from throughout the University community, upholding longstanding social traditions and striving for musical excellence in performances.
Grammy® Award-winning conductor and singer Frank Albinder is celebrating his 22nd year as conductor of the Virginia Glee Club. He recently retired as music director of the Washington Men’s Camerata after 25 years, and has joined two choirs where he doesn’t have to do anything but sing! A native of Hollywood, California, Mr. Albinder holds degrees from Pomona College and the New England Conservatory of Music.
University Baptist Church is located at 1223 West Main Street at the intersection of West Main Street and Jefferson Park Avenue, an easy walk from UVA. This page has a map with directions and information about free parking, along with an explanation of the handicapped-accessible entrances.
Tickets are on sale at the UVA Arts Box Office. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $5 for students. Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 7:30pm.
There will be a live feed of the Virginia Glee Club Christmas Concert on the University Baptist Church Youtube page. The live feed will remain up for viewing after the performance.
