The UVA Percussion Ensemble

Rhythm, color, and virtuosic energy come together as the University of Virginia Percussion Ensemble presents A Night of Percussion on Saturday, April 24, 2027, at 8:00 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall.

Directed by I-Jen Fang, the UVA Percussion Ensemble showcases the remarkable versatility of percussion through an exciting program of contemporary works and audience favorites. Featuring an extraordinary array of instruments—from marimbas, vibraphones, and timpani to drums, cymbals, and found objects—the ensemble explores the rich sonic possibilities of one of music's most dynamic performance traditions.

An accomplished percussionist, educator, and conductor, Fang leads the ensemble with an emphasis on musical excellence, artistic curiosity, and collaborative performance. Under her direction, students develop technical mastery while exploring innovative repertoire that spans cultures, styles, and traditions.

Whether delivering thunderous rhythmic power, shimmering melodic textures, or moments of surprising delicacy, the performers demonstrate the creativity and musicianship that make percussion one of the most engaging concert experiences. Audiences can expect an evening of vibrant performances that celebrate the limitless possibilities of rhythm and sound.

Detailed program information will be available closer to the concert date.
