UVA Wind Ensemble - 2027
The University of Virginia Department of Music proudly presents the UVA Wind Ensemble on Monday, April 19, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hunter Smith Band Building. This event is free and open to the public.
The spring concert showcases the artistry and musicianship of the University's premier wind ensemble in a program that celebrates the expressive range and remarkable versatility of the modern wind band. Audiences can look forward to an evening of compelling repertoire spanning traditional masterworks and contemporary compositions, highlighting the ensemble's technical excellence, musical sensitivity, and collaborative spirit.

Directed by Elliott Tackitt, UVA's Director of Bands, the 45-member Wind Ensemble is composed of the University's most accomplished woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians. Through the study and performance of outstanding wind literature, students develop their artistry while exploring a diverse repertoire that reflects the rich traditions and continuing evolution of the wind ensemble.
Known for its expressive performances and high musical standards, the ensemble presents concerts throughout the academic year that feature works by both celebrated and emerging composers. Whether performing beloved classics or contemporary masterpieces, the Wind Ensemble offers audiences engaging programs that showcase the power, color, and expressive possibilities of the wind band.

Location and Parking
The Hunter Smith Band Building is located at 180 Culbreth Road. Parking is available next door in the Culbreth Parking Garage at 130 Culbreth Road.
